shy, explained

shy, explained

shy started in 2024, but realistically it started way before that.

it began as a habit. finding pieces, keeping them, telling yourself they’d be useful at some point. they weren’t. they just stayed. over time, it turned into a pile. then a bigger pile. then the kind of situation where it’s like… okay this is either a store or a problem.

none of it was random.

there was always a very specific kind of thing being kept — certain cuts, certain fabrics, pieces that still feel right now without needing much done to them. things that just work.

a lot didn’t make it. which is probably why the pile didn’t get completely out of hand.

growing up around fashion didn’t help either.

being around creatives, seeing how people dress, collect, and think about clothing — it shifts how you look at things. you start noticing details, having opinions, quietly ruling things out for reasons you can’t fully explain.

the name came from the same place.

shy wasn’t a branding decision — it was just accurate. something said often growing up, usually within the first five minutes of meeting someone.

it didn’t feel like a strength at the time. more like something to grow out of.

but it turns out being shy just means noticing more. taking a second. knowing when something works and when it doesn’t.

that’s how shy works.

not everything makes it in. what does tends to speak for itself.
